  8. Q: What is NetWare for the HP 3000?
  9. A: NetWare 3.01B for the HP3000 is a fully compatible NetWare server
  10. product which provides transparent integration of desktop systems.  The
  11. HP 3000 with NetWare services will connect existing Novell networks or,
  12. can be used to build new NetWare networks and provide the same services
  13. as NetWare PC based servers.

  15. Q: I am happy with my NetWare Intel server. Why would I want to upgrade
  16.       to NetWare for the HP 3000?
  17. A: There are several reasons to move to NetWare for the HP 3000:
  18.     o Better throughput performance under high user loads(50+)
  19.           than Intel486 based servers.
  20.     o One server platform to manage, in place of several
  21.           smaller servers.
  22.     o Integrates business applications, file and print sharing
  23.           on one server.
  24.     o Much richer Client/Server development environment under
  25.           MPE and Posix vs. Novell NLMs.

  37. A: On the client side you will need PC compatibles with network

  41. at least 24 MB of memory for NetWare and 24 MB of memory for
  42. MPE/iX installed.

  109. A: Yes, NetWare will operate on a Multi-Processor system however only

  116. A: Prior to late September use the SE tape, after late September
  117. when the performance patch is available copy the software
  118. (complete product) from the CSY patch machine.

  121. Q: When will Native NetWare be available on the HP 3000?
  122. A: Native NetWare will not be available on HP9000 or HP3000.  The
  123. NetWare PA-RISC product will run directly over PA-RISC, in the same way
  124. as the operating systems of HP 3000s and HP 3000s operate over PA-RISC.
  125. NetWare is an operating system in it's own right and so can standalone
  126. without either MPE or HP-UX.  The advantages of NetWare running on the
  127. MPE platform are the ability to simultaneously run MPE applications
  128. with NetWare file and print services.  In situations where file and
  129. print services are all that is required the Intel or PA-RISC NetWare
  130. servers will usually be preferable.
